Debut album out now

Heart Zones

The official emergence of phreqed: Tori Morley, Malcolm Conat, Jerry Griffiths, and Mike Morley.

Heart Zones is out now on Spotify, Apple Music, and major streaming platforms. It is a debut album, a band statement, and a map of Tori Morley's leap from solo act into a collaborative Calgary sound.

The shift

From solo sketches to full-band charge

Heart Zones follows Tori Morley's evolution from solo writing during COVID isolation into a collaborative band sound shaped with Calgary players and long-distance studio allies. The record opens the door on phreqed as a live project, not just a name on a release.

The sound

Bass-driven funk, pop, and experimental rock

Working with Steve Dodd in Calgary, Kurt Morgan in Los Angeles, and emerging producer Malcolm Conat, the songs stretch from polished groove-forward writing into playful instrumental exploration and Zappa-inspired weirdness.

The concept

A workout for the heart

The album is arranged like heart-rate zones: recovery, endurance, tempo, and maximum effort. Each section captures a different intensity in Tori's musical development, moving from reflective reset into release.

Song Notes

Grooves, jokes, and sharp turns

The record balances polished hooks with loose sparks from live jams, school ideas, and studio experimentation.

Okay Charles

A dance-forward Malcolm Conat idea reshaped into the album's modern, upbeat center.

Toy

Groove-forward, polished, and playful - one of the clearest signals of the full-band direction.

The Waking Up

Part of the endurance zone, leaning into motion, momentum, and a wider instrumental language.

Bird Jam

Born from live-stage goofing and audience callouts, then turned into a full song with gleeful irreverence.

Robot Monster

A bonus-track time capsule from school-song spark to GarageBand synths, Steve Dodd studio cleanup, and vocal overdubs.

Videos and vinyl

Built for the campaign and the stage

The release is supported by videos for Banana Bread and Okay Charles from Calgary's Thunderlizard Collective, a growing run of Alberta shows, and a physical vinyl pressing in progress. The full cover, sleeve, and zone artwork are part of the album world.
